European Healthcare Histories

COST Action EuroHealthHist launched in Ljubljana

We were delighted to launch our new COST Action, National, International and Transnational Histories of Healthcare, 1850-2000 (EuroHealthHist) (CA22159), in the beautiful city of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The hybrid event took place in the Institute of Contemporary History and we are very grateful to the team there and to Jelena Seferovic for acting as local organiser.

The event was attended in person by 49 Action members with a further 20 joining online. The first day saw a meeting by the Core Group to sharpen our strategy for the coming years followed by a full meeting of our Management Committee. On day two we had two sessions for the Working Groups to get together and begin to plan their work. Discussions revolved around member interests, collecting source material for the Source Repository and potential academic meetings and workshops.

Thanks to an excellent evening reception on the first day, members from across the Action were able to mingle and get to know each other, strengthening networking and building platforms for future collaboration. A hugely exciting event – we can’t wait to get on with the real work of transforming understanding of European Health History!
